1. Your choices
Cookies and similar browser storage help operate the website, remember preferences and measure use. Simply visiting the website does not give consent to optional cookies.
Choose “Reject all” to decline optional categories, “Accept all” to allow them, or “Manage cookies” to choose analytics and marketing separately. You can reopen “Manage cookies” and change your choice at any time. Essential consent-preference storage remains active so we can remember a rejection as well as an acceptance.
2. Categories and purpose
- Essential: remembering consent choices and supporting requested security or core functions. A technology is not essential merely because it is useful to our business.
- Analytics: website measurement, page interactions, campaign attribution and, through Microsoft Clarity, heatmaps and session recordings.
- Marketing: advertising measurement and, where enabled and permitted, remarketing. Integrations can include Google Ads, Meta and LinkedIn; this does not mean every provider sets a cookie on every visit.
3. Storage information
The entries below distinguish a verified EKN setting from a provider’s published default. They are not a claim that every listed item is present in every browser. Page features, consent, provider configuration and browser limits affect what is stored.
| Item / provider | Purpose | Duration and control |
|---|---|---|
ekn_scc_consent / EKN |
Remembers essential, analytics and marketing choices, including rejection. | 180 days from saving a choice, unless deleted earlier. Verified in the current consent settings. |
ekn_scc_consent_local / EKN local storage |
Backup of the consent preference. | The application treats a choice as expired after 180 days. Local storage itself has no browser-managed expiry and can remain until cleared or replaced. |
_ga and _ga_* / Google Analytics |
Distinguishes visitors and retains session state when analytics storage is allowed. | Google documents a two-year default. Configuration and browser restrictions can shorten this; it is not a verified EKN-specific expiry. See Google’s cookie documentation below. |
_clck and _clsk / Microsoft Clarity |
Remembers the Clarity identifier/preferences and connects page views within a recording session. | Persistent/session-related provider storage. Current browser expiry should be checked in browser site-data settings; we have not independently verified a fixed lifetime for this deployment. |
Clarity’s documentation also describes third-party identifiers such as CLID, MUID, MR, ANONCHK and SM. Their availability depends on provider behaviour, consent and browser restrictions. The list above is a verified-settings and provider-information summary, not a completed all-pages storage inventory.
4. Consent Mode and withdrawal
Google Consent Mode communicates your storage and advertising choices to Google tags. In the current advanced-mode setup, limited cookieless measurement signals may still be sent when storage consent is denied. Rejecting optional cookies therefore does not promise zero requests to Google or that every measurement signal is anonymous.
Clarity is configured to load after analytics opt-in. Withdrawing that consent stops the recorder, removes its first-party _clck and _clsk cookies and reloads the page. Other existing cookies are not necessarily deleted automatically when you withdraw consent. You can remove them using your browser’s site-data controls. Clearing cookies or local storage may mean you are asked to choose again.
5. Browser storage, forms and other services
Cookies are not the only form of storage. Local storage can persist until cleared; session storage is normally limited to a browsing session. Campaign or referral information may be retained with an enquiry to help explain how it reached us. See the Privacy Policy for the resulting personal-data processing. Cookie choices are separate from permission to send marketing emails.
External booking, social and platform pages have their own controls and notices. Providers may process information outside the UK. Review their privacy information before using those services.
6. Provider information
- Google Analytics cookie names and default durations and Google Privacy Policy.
- Microsoft Clarity cookie information and Microsoft Privacy Statement.
- Meta Privacy Policy.
- LinkedIn Privacy Policy.
7. Contact and updates
